Youth Work

Children are our future  so I have helped to train and motivate many kids through my training programs.

In 2004, I created a boxing fitness project ‘Let’s Dance Revolution’ as a volunteer, with a youth skills centre, working with 25 disadvantaged youths. I tried to get funding to develop this as it was a great success with the kids but I was not successful in getting support for it in Grenada.

Finally, in 2007 I succeeded in getting the project funded by UNICEF for one year in Tobago.

I worked with students who were ‘trouble makers’ and out-of school youth on the block, using dance, boxing and fitness techniques with music to create performances.

The Red Cross Society certified me as a Community Team Leader and I trained and received a Sports Administration certificate from a UNICEF/TTSAPE Australian Sports Outreach Program (ASOP). My project, Let’s Dance Revolution, worked well for anger management, self discipline and motivation. We created videos, I became a mentor, building up self-esteem and the group went on to continuing performances and getting further funding.

Body Sensei donates Toys
by Chrislyn Lashington

“Christmas should be everyday” says Andy Grant popularly known as Body Sensei, as he donated toys to children of 3 primary schools in Grenada. On Monday, 5th November teachers and students of Grand Anse R.C. School and Calliste Government School were appreciative recipients of a large box of toys each.On Tuesday, 6th November Andy visited his alma mater, Crochu Government School which was quite an memorable event for him. Feelings of nostalgia, joy, and appreciation brought Andy to tears as he began to address the eager children. He motivated them to be healthy and stay in school. The toys were donated from Ian Dayus of Great Gizmos Toys UK, a friend Andy made since 2009 while working as a Trainer at the recently closed resort LaSource Grenada. They included unisex educational, creative, and gaming toys.
Andy Grant is a Group Fitness Instructor who teaches his special BodySensei Balanced High Energy workout. He has done mentorship to children through organisations like the Trinidad & Tobago Red Cross Society, UNICEF, Australian Sports Outreach Programme, and New Life Organisation. He has also lent his great physique to the fashion industry as a model in Miami, Florida and Trinidad & Tobago.“I love children and they love me. I hope to be able to have more time to work with children, especially those in need, in the future.” – Andy Grant.
